Maribeth Deavers divides her practice between business and government service. As a business lawyer she combines a unique blend of Intellectual Property and Employment law in her practice to serve the firm’s business clients. From formation and operations, through merger or sale, Maribeth counsels and represents businesses on all their legal issues including contracts, employment, litigation, workouts and regulatory matters. Maribeth assists businesses of all sizes in protecting and enforcing their rights in their intellectual property through filings on copyrights, trademark, and patents, intellectual property litigation, negotiating of licensing agreements, and drafting employment contracts to protect confidentiality of sensitive information and restrict competition by employees and contractors.
Maribeth also is frequently involved in representing municipalities and other political subdivisions with their employment, civil rights and civil service issues, as well as zoning, eminent domain, and regulatory issues. Prior to her association with Isaac Brant Ledman & Teetor, LLP, she served as in-house Counsel for the Central Ohio Transit Authority. She presently is representing the City of Hilliard in its condemnation actions resulting from the widening of Hilliard Rome Road.
Maribeth is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, a national rating service. In 1993, she co-authored a legal treatise, Civil Service Law in Ohio, published by Banks Baldwin.
Maribeth graduated from Miami University with a B.A. in Microbiology and Zoology and spent several years in classified research for the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio. She received her law degree from Capital University Law School (J.D. 1991, cum laude.)
Maribeth is admitted to practice in all courts of Ohio and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
