Joanne S. Peters is an excellent trial lawyer who focuses her practice on family law and business and employment litigation. She has been trying cases in the state and federal courts of Ohio since 1995. She delivered her first opening statement in defense of her client in a sexual harassment trial after being licensed for only 6 months, and her trial experience has flourished from then on.
After years of sharpening her litigation skills, Joanne expanded her practice and joined Isaac Brant’s pre-eminent family law practice. She represents clients in dissolution, divorce and like proceedings. She is an advocate for her clients both in and out of the courtroom.
Joanne’s business litigation experience includes disputes involving shareholders, partnerships, commercial leases, breaches of contract and unfair competition claims. She has also represented clients in commercial mediation and NASD and AAA arbitrations. She also assists clients with copyright and trademark registrations at the federal and state levels and has litigated several copyright and trademark infringement cases in Federal Courts in Ohio.
Her employment litigation experience includes ADA, age, disability, pregnancy, race, sex discrimination, sexual harassment, ERISA and covenant not to compete matters, including temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunction hearings related to covenant not to compete cases.
Joanne earned her law degree from the Ohio State University in 1994. She earned her undergraduate degree in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1991.
