Don Anspaugh’s 30-year practice experience spans nearly every area of civil litigation, encompassing both defense work representing defendants in a wide variety of cases, as well as representing aggrieved and injured parties within specialized areas.
Don’s most prevalent work encompasses the defense of sports promoters and recreational providers ranging from motorsports facilities to football, baseball and hockey venues to gymnastics academies, martial arts studios and health spas.
All of this began from a life-long love and involvement in motorsports and remarkable success in defending catastrophic injury claims against the providers of motorsports events since 1985. These cases have encompassed all forms of the sport, including Indycar racing, high-level sports car racing, sprint cars, stock cars and motorcycles. Don is a nationally recognized authority on assumption of risk generally and specifically as it applies to race track litigation and the proud recipient of one of weekly schedule racing’s highest awards for lifetime contributions to the sport. He speaks regularly with other nationally recognized lawyers to those who promote these events not only in an effort to provide for a better defense, but to provide for better risk management so that catastrophic incidents do not occur in the first instance.
As a defense lawyer, Don’s practice is wide ranging and also includes construction litigation, commercial claims of all kinds, various vehicular accidents and insurance contract interpretation and litigation.
Firmly believing that representing parties on both sides of civil litigation makes one a better lawyer, Don also has a focused practice centering on medical malpractice and claims of the elderly against long-term care and rehabilitative facilities.
Don is a 1977 graduate of Bowling Green State University (Summa Cum Laude) and a 1980 graduate of the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University. He is honored to have an AV Martindale Hubbell ranking.
